Throughout my years of doing art i've found what makes me enjoy the class the most. Realistic pencil drawings to the Bob Ross style of painting have all been things i've enjoyed. I do the work that makes me the most happy while doing it, which usually consist of artwork that comes with instant satisfaction. As I move along with my art I hope to explore more techniques and mediums to find a mix that I enjoy as much as the ones mentioned above. As I do not strive to be an artist that moves on to an art college coming out of high school, I do strive to be a better artist for the fun hobby I enjoy.
When I begin a new work the first aspect I look at is the size. Depending on the time frame and general theme of the piece I pick a size that works. As I rarely stray too far from the aspect of realism when doing a piece I mostly make decisions based on what would make the piece look more life like. The materials that I choose when making a piece are based mainly on my skill factor with them and how comfortable I am with them in making a good piece. In addition, the technique that I use to make a piece is directly correlated with the medium used.
As I think of a theme for my pieces I look at where I am in my life. Am I stressed or collected? Am I depressed or happy? These questions point my focus for a theme in different directions and change my works outcome. As I work on some different techniques like the Bob Ross style of painting I am challenging myself to become less reliant on his formatting and make my own landscapes. When I look ahead towards the future I see an artist that is self reliant and confident in himself to produce a piece that he would be proud of.
